With the new update, keeping track of the ever-changing Microsoft Teams calendar may soon be easier than ever.
The videoconferencing service has revealed that it is working on a new feature that will allow users to “pop out” from a meeting they are in so they can perform other tasks while on a call.
The company says this move, which can significantly increase the productivity of Microsoft Teams users, will allow users to create new meetings, check chats, or edit files without having to switch between applications.
Pop-up Microsoft Teams meetings
In his entry on official Microsoft 365 roadmap (opens in a new tab)the company notes that users will now be able to “pop out of an existing meeting using the pop-up icon in the Teams calendar scheduling form.”
Their meeting will still be visible while performing other tasks, and there is no need to switch between different apps.
This feature is currently listed as “in development”, but its expected release date is October 2022, so users won’t have to wait too long. Upon release, it will be available to Microsoft Teams users on desktop, web, and Mac computers.
The update is the latest in a series of enhancements to Microsoft Teams as the company wants to make its platform more intuitive to use.
The company recently revealed that it is working on an “Interactive Large Gallery” update, which means your conversations will now span channels from up to 49 video participants simultaneously. Users can interact with others through actions such as pinning and spotlights, and observe their activity in the meeting, such as raises and reactions.
When it comes to ending a call, another newly announced feature will allow users to leave the meeting from all devices with a single tap – useful for those who have joined the meeting using multiple personal devices, such as when traveling or working with a shared office or public location.
However, in slightly more disturbing news, Microsoft Teams recently announced that it would add paused music for users unlucky enough to get their connection transferred.
