One possible indicator of the presence of good cameras on the phone is the large lenses, and it looks like the iPhone 14 Pro will have some large, like newly discovered photos of the iPhone 13 Pro in a case supposedly designed for the upcoming 14 Pro to demonstrate.
These images – which were shared by the famous South Korean leak Lanzuk, on a blog platform Naver (opens in a new tab) (later noticed by GSMArena (opens in a new tab)) – show that all three rear cameras are apparently growing this year and in quite a significant amount.
Two of these size increases make sense, as leaks suggest the main camera on both Pro models will get a new 48MP sensor – which quite possibly also means a new lens – while the ultra-wide is also expected to receive an update, featuring a sensor with larger pixels. by 40%.
What we haven’t heard so much about is the telephoto lens, so it’s interesting to see that all three lenses are magnified. Most leaks suggest that this year’s Pros telephoto lens will be the same or very similar to that of the iPhone 13 Pro; which means it will likely offer a 3x optical zoom again.
So why a larger lens? Well, there are three possibilities. One is that the lens won’t actually be bigger, and this case is flawed, or at least weirdly dimensioned.
As TechRadar Senior Phones Editor Alex Walker-Todd explains, “There seems to be some degree of guesswork when creating cases for unreleased iPhones. After speaking with case makers in the run-up to the iPhone 14 lineup, pre-production cases are sometimes designed around a mix of existing hardware, leaks and expectations, with the company only confirming the correct tolerances and placement after the finished product has actually been released. ” .
Another potential is that there are more changes planned to the 14 Pro’s camera system than we’ve heard, which is an intriguing thought but probably unlikely this close to launch.
Finally, it may be – as GSMArena points out – that Apple is simply trying to keep the lenses more or less uniform in size, striving for symmetry. We should find out about it on September 7 (i.e. tomorrow, at the time of writing this text), because then the iPhone 14 line will almost certainly be presented.
Analysis: Joining the big camera club
With these larger lenses, the iPhone 14 Pro could begin to follow in the footsteps of many Android flagships, which increasingly have huge camera blocks, undulating from the lenses.
Whether it’s because of the large number of cameras, larger sensors and lenses, or additional features such as the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra’s additional screen, the large camera block has become a common sight in expensive phones and we can soon get used to it by seeing it also on iPhones, whether this leak is correct.
It’s a change that could also make the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max look slightly different from the back – though they’re not as different as they are likely to look from the front, given extensive rumors that these phones won’t be. they had a notch.
